Fall in the Midwest is very temperamental. It snowed on Monday and dropped into the teens at night, but was 65 degrees and rainy today. At this point, I’d rather it just get cold and snow. (I’ll most likely wish I didn’t say this when it actually does snow again, which will probably be sometime this week!) The wind was ridiculous today, and I made the poor choice to wear my hair down today, so that’s why my face is not making an appearance in this post!

The weather did cooperate long enough to snap a couple pictures of my outfit today. We had strong storms and tornadoes all around us, but fortunately it cleared up just before the sun began to set. My friend and I had plans to go to the gym and make DIY projects this afternoon, but we only had time for lunch before we had to head home before the storm hit. So naturally I spent my afternoon scanning Pinterest for the perfect DIY projects for us to make next weekend, which I can’t wait to share on here!

Do you have that piece of clothing that you want to wear over and over again? Well, that’s how I feel about this jacket, so don’t be surprised if you see it again sometime soon :)

I’m not much of a skull lover, but I thought this tank was the perfect mix of edgy and feminine. It’s super comfortable too, which makes it a great tank for the weekend! I’m all about being casual and comfortable on the weekends!

Mixing casual and dressy pieces has become somewhat addicting to me. I love pairing two pieces that wouldn’t ordinarily go together to show that they really can work with the right accessories.

Pencil skirts are a staple every woman should have in her closet. They’re perfect for a day at the office when paired with a nice blouse or blazer, they work so well with a casual sweater and flats for running errands and can be appropriate for a night out when paired with a cute tank, trendy heels and fun, printed clutch.

It’s finally starting to feel like fall in NWI, which means I can finally bring out my sweaters and boots. Fall in the Midwest is by far my favorite time of year – the weather is always perfect, the trees turn beautiful colors and everyone just seems to be unusually happy. Maybe it’s because of all of the pumpkin spice lattes people are consuming on a daily basis. Yes, I’m sure that’s it! Anything pumpkin flavored makes me pretty happy, at least!

On a side note, you may have noticed that I wear this necklace in every post. Sometimes I wear it on its own and sometimes tucked underneath statement necklaces or scarves, but one thing is for certain – I never take it off. I love how a delicate necklace looks when paired with a chunky sweater, plain tee or layered with other necklaces. It has two small discs with “G” and “J” engraved on them, which stand for my name (Gabrielle) and my boyfriend’s name (Jake). Jake is in the Marines, and unfortunately we haven’t seen or talked to each other much lately, so I like wearing something everyday that reminds me of him.

It’s taken me years to find these jeans. Jeans are probably at the top of my pickiness list. (Yes, a pickiness list is a real thing!) I always have trouble finding jeans that fit properly – they’re too short, fit in the waist and not in the legs (and vice versa), or the stitching is too light.  I picked up this pair in Chicago last month, and it’s probably one of my favorite purchases of all time. I love the dark stitching, dark wash, semi-stretchy denim, the fit and the length. This pair of jeans has become a staple in my closet – they go with almost everything I own!
